Title
International Standards of Mineral Resource ReportingAbstract
The mining industry is based on extraction of mineral assets, which are non-renewable. Therefore development of mineral deposit should be based on incomplete data and imperfect information. Therefore the shareholders of any mining project need to be aware of the risks and opportunities associated with any project: green field exploration to mining operation. Keeping the shareholders’ interest into considerations stock exchanges in various countries started requiring the mining companies to disclose certain information on a regular basis. Such requirements were developed by independent organizations and are known as codes or guidelines or national instrument or rules or laws in different jurisdictions. The JORC code in Australia, SME guide in US, NI-43-101 in Canada, SAMREC in S Africa are some of the examples. Today, all major staock exchanges in the world are requiring mining companies to report the resources and reserves as per an approved guideline / code. These countries are members of an international non-profit organization CRIRSCO.In this presentations, a history of such development of CRIRSCO and current developments in resource / reserve standards worldwide will be discussed.
