Title:

Horizontal Directional Drilling and Mining - Dewatering and Exploration Appplications for Surface and Underground Mines

Horizontal directional drilling is often associated with oil and gas developments or civil infrastructure installations, but HDD also allows for creative solutions in the mining industry.  This presentation will focus on dewatering and geologic exploration applications and will include various examples.  Novel applications will also be discussed, including pit slope dewater holes that intercept vertical pump wells to drain water away from the active mining area and limit passive inflows.
